This Hungarian heirloom arrived in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, with the Hussli family in 1912. Its horn-shaped fruits are mildly hot at 500-1,000 SHUs, but removing the seeds and pith from the fruits puts the accent on their sweet flavour and crisp texture. The fruits average 15cm (6″) long, about 6cm (2.5″) wide at the shoulder, and tapering to a blunt point. The compact plants are very well adapted for cool, short season growing, and are highly productive.
